Dancer
The Polyspede Dancer control board is designed for DC motor
applications requiring torque or speed control by means of a
dancer mechanism. Its purpose is to maintain a constant tension
on any material between two nip points. Four onboard potentiometers
allow precise calibration in the field.
The LEAD and LAG potentiometers
stabilize the system and maximize response.
The DANCER POS potentiometer
electronically adjusts the center position of the dancer mechanism.
The SEN (sensitivity) potentiometer,
used only for dancer trim applications, set the maximum amount
of speed correction for a given dancer position.
This board is intended for use
in both dancer trim and full dancer applications.
Application Dancer Trim System
The line speed potentiometer
sets the line speed of the material via the lead motor and
control. Its armature voltage is isolated and converted to
a 0-6 VDC line speed reference. The Dancer trim board monitors
the line speed reference and trims it up to plus or minus
20 percent, depending on the position of the dancer mechanism.
The output from the dancer trim board then sets the speed
of the slave motor.
Application Full Dancer System
A line speed signal is not used
in this application. The dancer pot has full control of the
entire speed range of the slave motor. The pot causes the
slave to run at the speed necessary to maintain the desired
dancer position as the roll builds on the winder.
