Auto-Wind
The Polyspede Auto-Wind constant tension center-wind drive system
automatically torque-programs a DC motor-driven center winder to
keep tension constant as roll size increases.
By using Polyspede's inverse function
generator circuitry there is no need for mechanical sensing devices
to measure roll size or dancer mechanisms to sense web tension.
This is a big advantage when handling delicate materials.
Auto-Wind is available in two basic
types.
Auto-Wind-1 is for use on process lines
operating with a maximum 3 to 1 line speed range while building
rolls up to 10 times the core size.
Auto-Wind-2 is for lines operating
with a line speed range of up to 10 to 1. It can build rolls up
to 10 times the core size. A roll of 20 times the core size can
be built if the line speed range is limited to 5 to 1.
On-board potentiometers and a comprehensive
instruction manual allow precise calibration in the field.
Application Center
Wind Drive System
By monitoring the line speed and winder
feedback signals, the Auto-Wind-2 circuitry automatically programs
the torque reference signal to the winder motor control. With a
constant line speed, the roll must slow down as it builds. The torque
in the winder motor is automatically increased to maintain the tension
level as set by the tension adjust potentiometer. With Auto-Wind-1
the winder feedback tachometer is not required. Instead the Y input
is taken from the winder motor armature voltage.
